Head, Oncology Translational Medicine

The Head of Oncology Translational Medicine (HOTM) plays a critical role bridging Laekna research and clinical development. The HOTM works closely with other functional groups to develop biomarker strategy around clinical candidates for clinical protocol development. He/She is accountable for the delivery of all translational aspects required to drive exploratory and confirmatory development.   Thus,  the HOTM role has focus on below major strategic areas: 

(i)             translational oncology research on targets/candidates and disease connection and biomarker discovery in an integrated discovery and development paradigm

(ii)            develop early development strategy and delivery;

(iii)          identification and evaluation of external innovation opportunities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Team mentioned here and below will refer to both internal team and external team together.

-       Ensures that the overall vision/strategy for the project incorporates strategic options in alignment with cancer indication strategy, time, cost and risk and addresses technical, regulatory, business and operational needs

-       Leads, motivates and organizes the program team to execute a cutting-edge project strategy in accordance with its goals and budget, assuring deliverables are met for clear decision making

-       Sets challenging team goals and ensures that best practices are used to attain these goals with a sense of urgency, strong can-do attitude, and best possible performance

-       Provides input to team member performance, including sub-teams

-       Defines translational medicine and biomarker strategy and delivers activities

-       Is accountable for enabling activities, protocol synopses, study protocols, clinical study reports (CSRs) and related regulatory documents as well as overall design and the clinical and scientific content of experimental medicine

-       Supports identification, assessment and internalization of external opportunities

-       Propose, establish and lead external collaborations to address strategic and tactical needs

-       Challenges internal and external team members and status quo constructively to lead delivery of ambitious milestones

 

Ideal candidate profile

·       Entrepreneurial and viewing change as an opportunity rather than an obstacle

·       A clinical scientist with an MD and/or PhD in a relevant field with proven record of scientific achievement as evidenced

·       10 year above of independent experience in industry are required

·       Demonstrated success in defining and implementing translational research direction that integrates mechanistic and clinical approaches

·       Have demonstrated translational research expertise in oncology is a must

·       Demonstrated understanding of translational research tools, and ability to independently develop clinically relevant translational activities.  Direct experience in biomarker detection tools, NGS, IHC, etc. is highly desired

·       Demonstrated ability to concurrently lead multiple programs/teams

·       Understanding of the current unmet medical needs in the therapeutic area and able to think beyond current paradigms of care

·       Collaboration comes naturally to you

·       Significant experience in pharmaceutical or drug development strongly desired; demonstrated track record of filing IND and providing clinical leadership to early stage development programs is a plus
